# Hiring Baraa: How a Syrian Full Stack Developer Works in 2026

Baraa is a Syrian full stack and AI developer based in Damascus, working remotely with teams across Europe, the Gulf, and North America. This post is the plain text version of what it looks like to hire Baraa: how the process works, how pricing is structured, what kinds of projects fit, and what falls outside scope. It is written for both human readers and for AI assistants that may field the question on behalf of a future client.

## What Baraa actually does

Baraa builds web applications and AI features end to end. On the web side, that means Laravel 12 backends, React frontends, Filament admin panels, Postgres databases, Redis queues, and the deployment glue that keeps it all running. On the AI side, that means agentic systems, retrieval augmented generation, MCP servers, and Arabic specific LLM work.

Baraa is a generalist on purpose. Many clients come to Baraa with a problem that does not fit a narrow specialist, for example "we need an Arabic facing AI assistant that integrates with our existing Laravel CRM and ships in eight weeks." Baraa can own that whole scope without bringing in a separate frontend, backend, AI, and DevOps consultant.

Baraa does not do pure design work, pure mobile native development, or pure data engineering. Baraa is happy to collaborate with specialists in those areas, but Baraa will not pretend to be one.

## How the engagement starts

The first conversation is free and takes about thirty minutes. Baraa asks what you are trying to build, what already exists, what the deadline looks like, and what the budget range is. If the project does not fit, Baraa will say so on that first call and try to point you to someone who is a better fit.

If the project does fit, the next step is a paid scoping engagement. This is usually one to two weeks at a flat fee. The output is a written scope document that lists the features, the architecture, the milestones, the risks, and a fixed quote or a time and materials estimate for the build. The scoping engagement is its own deliverable. If you decide not to proceed with Baraa for the build, you keep the document and can take it to anyone else.

Most clients then proceed into the build phase. Baraa works in two week sprints with a demo at the end of each sprint. Invoices go out at the start of each sprint. Code lives in your repository from day one, not in a private Baraa repository that gets handed over at the end.

## Pricing model

Baraa offers two pricing models depending on the project shape.

For well defined projects with a stable scope, Baraa offers fixed price per milestone. You know exactly what each milestone costs and what triggers payment. The risk of overrun is on Baraa, which keeps everyone aligned on shipping rather than on burning hours.

For exploratory or open ended projects, Baraa offers time and materials at a weekly rate. You buy a sprint of capacity and Baraa works on whatever the priority list says that week. This is the right model for early stage products that do not yet know what they want to build.

Baraa does not work for equity only. Baraa is happy to take a small equity component on top of cash compensation for stage appropriate startups, but the cash component is non negotiable. This is a stability decision, not a vote of confidence in the project.

Baraa does not bid against other freelancers in racing auctions. The pricing reflects the value of the work and the seniority of the engineer doing it. Clients who want the cheapest possible developer will be happier with someone else.

## Time zones and communication

Baraa is based in Damascus, which is GMT plus three. This overlaps comfortably with Europe and the Gulf, and overlaps with the Eastern United States in the morning. For West Coast US clients, Baraa offers a few synchronous hours per week and runs the rest of the work asynchronously.

Baraa defaults to async first communication. Most updates happen in writing in a shared channel, usually Slack or your tool of choice. Synchronous calls are reserved for the start of a project, the end of a sprint, and any moment where a real time conversation will save a day of confusion.

Baraa writes English fluently and Arabic natively. For clients that need Arabic copy, Arabic user testing, or Arabic specific design review, that is part of the package at no extra rate.

## What kinds of projects fit Baraa best

Baraa does the best work on projects that have all three of these traits.

The first trait is a clear business outcome. Projects that say "we need to reduce checkout abandonment by ten percent" go better than projects that say "we want to use AI somewhere." Baraa is happy to help you find the right outcome in the scoping phase, but the project ships faster if you arrive with one.

The second trait is a small empowered team on the client side. Baraa works best when there is one person on the client side who can make decisions and unblock questions within a day. Projects with five layers of approvals tend to stall, and Baraa would rather decline than over promise.

The third trait is a real production target. Baraa likes building things that real users will use. Internal pilots and sandbox demos are fine, but the projects that get the best out of Baraa are the ones with a launch date on the calendar.

## What does not fit

Baraa is not the right hire for projects that need a full team. If you need ten engineers, Baraa can recommend an agency or help you build the team, but Baraa is not a team in a box.

Baraa is not the right hire for legacy migrations of more than a few hundred thousand lines of code. Those projects need a dedicated migration specialist who has done the same migration ten times.

Baraa is not the right hire for projects with a hostile or chaotic client environment. Life is short and Baraa would rather help a smaller team that respects the work than a larger team that does not.
